A blood donation and medical camp for the staff of Northern Province was organized under the guidance of the Chief Secretary of Northern Province at the training unit of Deputy Chief Secretary - Personnel on 21 November 2017.
This camp was conducted to promote the endeavor of donating bloods among the Government staff and to create awareness about the increasing non-communicable diseases. Basic checkups were done to give proper treatments to staff.
It should be noted that 130 staff participated in the camp. 39 females and 57 males, as a whole, 96 officers visited the medical camp. 65 staff including 8 females came to donate their blood but 43 of them were able to donate blood.
Medical Officer of Jaffna Municipal Council Yasitharan presented a lecture on non-communicable diseases. He also gave medical consultations.
Blood donation unit and Diabetes treatments unit of Jaffna Teaching Hospital, Regional Health Office – Jaffna and Reginal Directorate of Jaffna conducted the camp. Plants were distributed by Provincial Agriculture Ministry to the participants.
The participants appreciated this medical and blood donation camp organized by Deputy Chief Secretary – Personnel and Management Development Training Unit and made are a request to be conducted twice a year.
