The new secretariat for the office of the Chief Minister and Chief Minister’s Ministry with a floor area of 18,000 sq.ft. was built under the CBG allocations in the year 2014 and 2015 at a total cost of Rs. 90.0 Mn. as a second stage of the Council Building Complex, with a total cost of Rs. 390.0 Mn.
This Ministry commenced its functions at the new office building on 06th of April, 2016 at 10.30 a.m at an auspicious time with the participation of the Chief Minister and the new Secretary to the Ministry Mrs. Vijeyaluxmy Ketheeswaran.
Chief Minister Justice C.V.Wigneswaran was welcomed by Secretary and staff and was garlanded by Mr. K.Rajathurai, Private Secretary to the Chief Minister. With the lighting of the traditional oil lamp Chief Minister was taken to his office by the staff following which a meeting was held at the conference hall. In his address, Chief Minister said that today is an important day to the council as it completes exactly its 2 1/2 years on 7th of April 2016.Within this period we have been able to move into its own building adjacent to the Provincial Assembly in the same premises. He stressed the importance of the service to the public without prejudice within the Law of the land. He further said under the good governance, policy of the new Government which came into power in January, 2015 we officers of the provincial council have to adhere to the same policy in respect of our administration. Member of the Provincial Council Mr.Nadarajah and public who called at the office on this public day to meet the Chief Minister also participated in this event.
