Governor’s Trophy Chess Tournament - District level competition for Jaffna district commenced on 22nd February 2014 at Jaffna Hindu Ladies College. Secretary to the Governor L.Ilaangovan inaugurated the competitions. 707 students compete at this level. Previously, competitions for Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Mannar districts have been completed. Provincial level competition will be conducted in second week of March. The Governor Trophy Chess Tournament 2014 commenced in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts on 16th January 2014. These competitions are organized under the guidance of Governor of Northern Province GA Chandrasiri to improve the skills of the students. 3150 students participated during the first stage of the competition.
